Obbe Vermeij, who left the company in 2009, discussed the historical tension between PC and console releases in a recent interview. He recalled how artists were upset when the original Grand Theft Auto had its 256-color textures reduced to 16 for the PlayStation 1 version.
"So it always has been that sort of awkward relationship between PC and the console," Vermeij said. "So in those days, it was like PC first and then console second, even though that didn't really make much sense for the sales, because the PlayStation versions sold way better."
