Period products essential, not optional

Public health director Matt Tyrer announced that sanitary towels and tampons will be supplied free to women and girls on the Isle of Man under the Period Products (free provision) Act, which received Royal Assent after being introduced as a private member's bill by MHK Joney Faragher in 2024 and will not take effect until October 2027.

Tyrer's department is leading the rollout of the scheme, which aims to make the items available to low‑income households and to ensure menstruating people do not have to miss school, work or everyday activities.
"We want to ensure people who need them have access to them as these are basic health and hygiene products that are essential and not optional," said Tyrer.
