A promotional teaser for the series features an abandoned bicycle equipped with a radio in a restricted area, followed by a loud explosion in the sky. While creators Matt and Ross Duffer have moved to Paramount, they will serve as executive producers on the project. The series is being co-created and written by Kate Trefry, who previously worked on the script for The First Shadow, while Joe Wright is set to direct the opening three episodes.
Regarding the upcoming series, Matt and Ross Duffer stated: "We've been dreaming of Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure for many years now, and to see it become a reality is surreal and exhilarating." They added: "It's Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new ... actually, we're not allowed to say any more. Now, on to casting. In the meantime — watch the skies, nerds!"
Meanwhile, the stage production The First Shadow is set to conclude its London West End run on December 27 and its Broadway run on January 3. Reports indicate that a recording of this play is expected to arrive on Netflix. Additionally, the company recently launched the second season of the animated spinoff Stranger Things: Tales from '85 and a blooper reel from the final season of the main show.
