Fox has finalised its $22 billion acquisition of Roku, concluding one of the most significant media transactions in recent years and providing the firm with a substantial advantage in the streaming and connected TV sectors.

The agreement, which was confirmed on Friday, brings the streaming business established in 2002 officially under the control of Fox. Fox stated that the merged organisation is now the third-largest television business in the U.S. by viewership.
“We started Roku more than two decades ago to give people a better way to watch TV, and that mission doesn’t change today. What does change is our reach and resources,” Roku founder Anthony Wood said in a statement. “Our teams will keep building and innovating as they always have, now with the support and capabilities of Fox behind us.”
For Fox, the deal grants direct access to Roku’s reach of more than 100 million households. The company anticipates that this audience will assist in improving advertising targeting, bolstering its standing in the rapidly expanding connected TV market, and lowering its dependence on traditional TV distribution.
This announcement follows a second request for information issued by the Justice Department two months ago, which asked both firms to submit further data and documents during its antitrust review. Reports earlier this month indicated that the deal was approaching U.S. regulatory approval.

The acquisition was also finalised significantly sooner than anticipated. When the deal was initially revealed in June, the companies had estimated that it would be completed in the first half of 2027.
