Jobe Bellingham has been called up to the senior England squad, a move that sees him continue to follow the career path of his older brother, Jude. Both siblings are products of the Birmingham City academy and were consistent features in England youth international teams.

In the summer of 2025, Jobe transferred to Dortmund from Sunderland for a fee reaching £31m, following his role in helping the Wearside club secure promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs. This transfer reflects the path taken by 23-year-old Jude, who represented the German club from 2020 until 2023 prior to his move to Real Madrid.
According to Tuchel, England Under-21 coach Lee Carsley has been "speaking very highly" of Jobe Bellingham "for a while". Tuchel noted, "He is the captain of the under-21s so I think the door should always be open and the pathway should always be open for special performances over a long period of time and that is what Jobe has done."
Tuchel further commented on the player's development, stating, "He found his way and his rhythm with Dortmund, where he has had an excellent start to the season. He is a regular starter there and now very influential." Bellingham has been selected ahead of Kobbie Mainoo, with Tuchel explaining that the Manchester United midfielder has experienced a "difficult spell with his club".
Regarding the inclusion of younger talent, Tuchel said, "The door is always open for younger players to overtake and make their mark." The squad also includes 19-year-old Fulham academy graduate King, who has performed well this Premier League season with two goals and one assist. Having represented England at every youth level, King has scored once in nine appearances for the Under-21s.

Tuchel described King as "a fantastic character" who "gives us a bit of flexibility". He added, "We decided to nominate 22 outfield players for flexibility in training and he is the extra player in training, if you will."
