Assessing Anderson's performance at Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Anderson has become a focal point of discussion following his transfer from Nottingham Forest. The former Newcastle player excelled last season despite playing for a Forest side that saw four different managers and narrowly avoided relegation by five points.

During his time at Forest, Anderson led league rankings for ball touches, possession wins, duels contested and fouls drawn. Since joining the side that secured two trophies last season, he has taken on a deep-lying number six role, effectively filling the positions previously held by Bernardo Silva and Rodri.
Statistics show that Anderson currently leads the division with 28 fouls drawn. He also ranks second for duels won with 66, while placing third in successful passes at 610 and ball touches with 851.
The midfielder has recorded one goal and two assists across 14 appearances this season. He also provided the assist for Erling Haaland’s winning goal during Wednesday's Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
While Arsenal's Declan Rice and Tottenham's Jan Paul van Hecke have recorded more successful passes in the opposition half and line-breaking passes, Anderson has achieved his numbers despite playing at least 66 minutes fewer than both players.

Reflecting on his teammate's performance, Erling Haaland said, "He has been amazing." He added, "He has had an amazing start to his City career and that is what you expect. You have to come straight in and perform."
Haaland further noted, "It is not easy to come in, you need to adapt and new players and a new coach, so he has been impressive. Respect."
