If the moon is seen on Wednesday, tomorrow (Thursday) the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated all over the country with enthusiasm in an atmosphere of proper religious fervor. It will be known whether the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Thursday or Friday this evening. A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held in the evening to fix the date of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The meeting will be held at the meeting hall of the Islamic Foundation at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram. The meeting will be chaired by Faridul Haque Khan, chairman of the National Moon Sighting Committee and state minister for religion.
The meeting will review the news of the sighting of the moon in the month of Shawwal 1442 AH and set a date for the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal, the end of the month of Ramadan.
If the moon of Shawwal is seen in the sky of the country today (Wednesday), Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated the next day (Thursday). If the moon is not seen anywhere in Bangladesh, Thursday will be the 30th day of Ramadan. In that case, Eid will be celebrated on Friday (May 14).
If you see the moon of the holy month of Ramadan anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh, call 9559493, 9555948, 9558407 and 9556337 and fax to 9563398 and 9555951 or inform the Deputy Commissioner (DC) or Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of the concerned district.
