Tesla will wind down production of its Cybertruck at its Texas factory next year, Elon Musk said. He did not clarify whether the model will be stopped completely or moved elsewhere, but noted the move is to "make room" for building more of its self‑driving Cybercab cars.

Lead engineer Wes Morrill appeared to confirm the vehicle’s discontinuation, writing on X: "Cybertruck was an incredible technology development platform and lives on through Cybercab."
The angular Cybertruck, launched in 2023 after earlier delays, has recorded disappointing sales. Fans expressed grief online, one user calling it "the best vehicle Tesla has ever made, external" and lamenting it being "discontinued next year". Musk replied with "true" and added: "But the Cybertruck fleet will be around for a long time."
Musk has repeatedly praised the model, describing it as "way more awesome than people realise, external" in March and later calling it the "best product Tesla has ever made to date, external" in April.
The vehicle’s public debut in 2019 was marred when Musk attempted to demonstrate supposedly unbreakable glass, which shattered during the live showcase.
