United States President Donald Trump has named Stephen Miller as the new White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles. Trump confirmed the change on Friday via his Truth Social account, stating that Miller will officially begin the role on Monday.

Describing him as “one of my most trusted advisors,” the President expressed appreciation for the outgoing chief of staff. Trump noted, “Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!”
Miller has maintained a position as a close confidant to Trump throughout both presidential terms. He initially joined the President's 2016 election campaign as an adviser and later became the primary strategist for the administration’s strict border and deportation policies.
Following the midterm elections, in which Democrats secured 253 seats in the 435-member US House and gained seven US Senate seats, Trump is reorganising his staff. Results are still being processed in Alaska and Mississippi, as well as for 27 additional House races. It is anticipated that Democrats will initiate inquiries into Miller once they assume control of both the House and Senate in January.
Although the election was viewed by many as a referendum on the President, the decision to appoint Miller suggests a commitment to his divisive policy agenda. Miller, who did not address the election outcomes directly, previously encouraged supporters on X to “Send a message to the corrupt media, corrupt Democrats and corrupt left-wing politicians who want to steal your future and destroy the inheritance of your children,” adding, “Get to the polls and protect the ones you love.”

Susie Wiles, who was instrumental in the 2024 election comeback, remarked that her time as chief of staff was “the honour of a lifetime.” She added, “I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together, from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First.”
