Warby Parker says Google XR glasses pre‑orders open 12 Nov

Warby Parker has disclosed the date on which pre‑orders for Google's Android XR smart glasses will commence. Its third‑quarter earnings statement says the Intelligent Eyewear range will be open for ordering on 12 November. "One week from today, on November 12, we'll begin accepting pre-orders for our first Intelligent Eyewear collection and look forward to delivering customer orders during the holiday season," Dave Gilboa, Warby Parker's co‑founder and co‑CEO, said. "We can't wait for customers to experience these remarkable products firsthand."

Pricing details have not been released, though shoppers may already register for in‑store demonstration slots. Gentle Monster, another partner in the Google venture, will also retail the Intelligent Eyewear but has only hinted at a general autumn availability.
Engadget reports it has reached out to Google for clarification on the launch schedule and whether Gentle Monster's models will be offered on 12 November, and says it will amend the story if a reply is received.
Google disclosed in 2025 that it is collaborating with Samsung, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, and displayed the Intelligent Eyewear designs at this year's Google I/O. All devices will operate an audio‑focused version of Android XR, incorporate cameras and provide quick access to Gemini, the company's AI assistant. The firm has also shown fully augmented‑reality glasses, although a release timetable remains uncertain.
Android XR first appeared on the Samsung Galaxy XR in 2025, a handset built for Vision‑Pro‑style mixed‑reality, which may not reflect how the new eyewear feels. Past controversies surrounding the Ray‑Ban Meta Smart Glasses have raised public wariness of facial cameras, a sentiment that the comparable Google approach has yet to allay.
