Japanese financial services group ORIX's aircraft leasing division, ORIX Aviation, has agreed to acquire Newport‑based AerFin in a transaction valued at about £475m. AerFin, founded by Bob James and originally a south Wales business, was previously majority‑owned by a private‑equity firm before the sale. It deals in buying, selling, leasing and repairing aircraft, engines and components. In 2025 the firm moved into a newly built 116,000 sq ft centre at Indurent Park in Newport and has confirmed there are no plans to relocate its headquarters. AerFin said the takeover represents a new chapter for the business. ORIX Aviation is the aircraft leasing arm of the Japanese financial services conglomerate ORIX Group.
