As there is no lockdown, this time, Eid-ul-Azha is in full swing in Pirganj. From the day before Eid to Friday, more than 100 marriages between Hindus, Muslims, and followers of other religions took place in the Upazila.
According to the Upazila Marriage Registrar and Hindu Marriage Registrar, many young people have come home on holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha in 15 unions and one municipality of Pirganj. Most of them are garment workers. As the lockdown was relaxed for seven days, public life became normal. On this occasion, many families choose the Eid holiday to marry their children. According to him, more than a hundred marriages have been completed in the last four days.
It is also learned that three young women got married in Dhanshala village of Pirganj municipality on the day after Eid (Thursday).
The newlywed Pawan Sarkar said, “We are under house arrest in Corona.” But age does not stop. So the family decided to marry me.
Masudur Rahman, the marriage registrar of the Raipur union of the Upazila, said the number of marriages is increasing this time. 3-4 weddings are taking place every day in my league.
Jiban Kumar Adhikari, the only Hindu marriage registrar in the Upazila, said several marriages had taken place on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Earlier, Hindu marriages were not registered. However, now that it is written, marriage statistics are available.
UNO Biroda Rani Roy of Pirganj said, “I am getting many wedding invitations, but I cannot accept the invitations due to lack of time and opportunity. So many people are suffering from this. So I have asked everyone to observe social events to a limited extent keeping in mind the Corona situation.
